We will be meeting again at the Bohemian Beer Garden in Astoria, a short hop from Manhattan on the N or W train (get off at Astoria Boulevard and walk north a couple blocks to 24th Street; the beer garden is a couple doorways left down 24th Street).

The beer garden is huge, so look for us in the far right corner. We usually commandeer a large section of picnic tables and drape them with flags from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. If it rains, we will meet inside -- just enter the bar and turn right down the stairs.

A note of caution: the place is scrupulous about checking IDs.

    • “ This was my first meetup group ever so I was a little nervous. When I got to the Bier Garten in Astoria I had a "first day at the school cafeteria" experience. IMO it would've been better if the group was more easily identified so as to avoid the awkwardness of not knowing where to go and what to do. But after my initial unease I found the group to be full of interesting, intellegent, and very nice people! The venue was fantastic and it felt great to sit outside in a relaxed atmosphere, drink beer, and eat bratworst! Everyone made me feel very welcome and invited. I've very thankful to everyone I met and I'm looking forward to the next meeting. ”

      “ Es war super! Die Leute waren ganz freundlich und witzig. Das Lokal war sehr geeignet fuer die Veranstaltung. Es war ueberhaupt nicht laut, und man musste nicht schreien um ein Gespraech zu fuehren. Es gab viel Platz, und das hat es leichter gemacht, sich vorzustellen und neue Leute kennenzulernen. ”
