Hello,
please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bodo Dieckvoss. I am the drummer and this year's tour manager of the amateur woodwind and brass ensemble ?United Winds? of the music school of our county from Soltau, Germany. We are a group of students and some older also non-professional musicians. This year I would like to take ?United Winds? to California and Mexico. My intention is to once again enable both the musicians and the host families to get new impressions and understanding among the people of the world by the global language of music. While we luckily have one of our former trumpeters down in Mexico, who organizes the second week of our tour, we know almost nobody in California. (Two of my cousins live in San Diego but they sadly couldn't help me with the planning.) I am looking for chances to get in touch with people in San Diego who are probably having somthing like homestay-programs and are willing to host our ensemble for two or three nights in the period from July 12th to July 19th. We would like to perform (free of charge, of course) as often as possible. I found the SAN DIEGO STAMMTISCH in the internet and Roger recommended to ask for help here at "Stammtisch-Light", too. Probably these two Stammtisches can give us (25 kind musicians -made in Germany ) a "home" for some days and probably a venue to play one of our always free concerts. I am sure heavy- and light-stammtischlers do not compete but compLete... So the heavy-stammtischers could take care of our "light-englischmen" and the light-stammtischlers could host some of our fluently englisch speaking musicians. And you all can visit our concert for free. Ain't that an offer?!?! Oh, I didn't let you into the secret of our always free concerts, did I? Well, than snap at the cance to have some fresh German speaking people around you. I'd be glad to hear from you. You can read more about us on http://www.dieckvoss....
