I have a copy of "Mostly Martha": "German director Sandra Nettelbeck whips up this tragicomic tale about an uptight professional chef who finds her world turned upside down when she takes in her newly orphaned niece, Lina (Maxime Foerste). Martina Gedeck stars as Martha, whose obsession with precision gourmet cooking extends to discussing recipes with her bewildered therapist (August Zirner) and verbally attacking anyone at the restaurant who attempts to send her food back." It's good, Netflix users give it a 4.4 out of 5 star rating.

Bring a pillow or something comfy to sit on as there is only so much couch space!

First, sorry about last week's class being canceled. Kris was ill. Secondly, sorry to all those members who aren't interested in a class getting messages about our classes--we will only post announcements on this web-page and to current students from now on.

Please feel free to join this group study at any time if you are interested. The teacher's name is Kris and she is a native German. We'll probably continue to meet on Mondays as it seems to be the best day for most people.

I urge everyone interested to take the polls so that Kris can have the most suggestions as possible about what the students want from these German classes; so far, only 4 people have submitted.

There seems to be a lot of requests for a textbook. If you have something in mind that you have used or just bought but then never used, please bring this book to show the rest of the class and perhaps we can all commit to buying a book.

Lastly, when you sign-up for the class as a definite "yes", please denote if you are a "beginner" or "intermediate" with your RSVP as we may be able to divide into two groups.

The first class went very well and the group would like to continue on a weekly basis. Most of the ppl that signed up are beginners. The class is taught by Kris - a native German. Materials will be provided: worksheets, books, etc. There is a $5/head charge at the door to cover Kris' teaching expense. There is no set location for this class and the meeting address will be announced to those that sign-up.

let's get together for our monthly "Stammtisch" at the Wynkoop. Since the feedback on the location was soo good, I'll just leave it at Wynkoop.
Please be prepared to pay yournnual contribution if you haven't already done so. I am also hoping that Kirsten and Natalia will join us at the Stammtisch so I can introduce everybody to the assistant organizers. And hopefully the two will be able to take the lead on the next Stammtsich. ;-)
