Come to a German Language Meetup to have a chat, some banter and a drink. We are a mixture of German native speakers and Brits etc (who learned German at school/uni/living abroad/wherever). We always welcome new members and meet ups are very informal (chatting over drinks in a pub/cafe).
From September, we will have 2 meetups per month.
Anyone who replies "maybe" in advance - can they please try to change response to yes/no nearer the time?
Any event will be cancelled the day before if only 2 or 3 people have responded yes. Cancelling it the day before avoids someone turning up at a venue to find no-one else there. So please check on the site on the day of the event to see if the event is still going ahead.
Some places (Filmhouse bar) do not allow us to pre-book tables.
Reverting back to charging £1 per person per meet up. I have recently paid the bill to let us use this site. 72 dollars, which came up as £44 approx. I'll be looking to recoup most of that over the next few weeks. Once I reach £40, meet ups will be free again til the next bill needs paid. Charging members to come along is only meant to cover my costs (£44 membership to meetup.com), nothing more.
Change of plan: "Die Mauer" film at the Filmhouse starts at 6:15pm on the 9th. Anyone wishing to see this film should buy their own tickets (in advance) and look out for other meetup people in the foyer. I mightn't be able to get there in time to see the film.
Anyone not wanting to see the film (or who can't get there early enough to see the film) should meet in the bar area of the Filmhouse from 7:30. Read more
