Hours: The Oktoberfest opens on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and closes at 11 p.m. Hours on Saturday are 12 to 11 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 6 p.m.

Admission: $7.00 per person.

Opening Parade: The opening parade will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The parade features the Muencher Kindl, Munich Child, symbol of the city of Munich which leads the opening parade of the Munich Oktoberfest. The child is dressed in brown monk's garb with golden stripes, similar to that of the Benedictine order, founders of the city.

Continuous Entertainment: The "Enzian Volkstanzgruppe", the Bavarian dance group of the Delaware Saengerbund, will entertain at intervals during the festival. They perform in the colorful "Tracht" - the traditional costume patterned after the distinctive style of Miesbach in Bavaria. The men wear "Lederhosen" - buck skin leather pants - the women a "Dirndl" - a dress consisting of several parts: skirt, blouse, vest, apron, shawl, completed with a special hat.

When the EVTG is not dancing, German music is provided by the band featured above. Friday & Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The JT Orchestra will play for your enjoyment Saturday afternoon.

Food: German specialties include grilled Bratwurst (pork sausage), Weisswuurst (veal sausage), Frankfurters, BBQ chicken, pretzels and "Rollmops", a marinated herring served with rye bread. Potato salad and sauerkraut are made in the Delaware Saengerbund kitchen by the Ladies organization. A variety of Torten and traditional plum cake are the tempting sweet fare.

Imported Gifts and Souvenirs: Oktoberfest souvenirs and Bavarian specialty clothes are available in a great variety.

Amusement Rides: Included in the admission price are unlimited free amusement rides.

Relax and enjoy a movie under the stars. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and sip your favorite wine, and enjoy a movie outside under the stars - on a BIG screen. Take a picnic along if you'd like.
The movie begins at dusk (8:30pm) - but come early (6:30) and enjoy live 80's era music.

Cost is $8.00 / person, which includes the movie, wine tasting, & free popcorn.

This Friday's movie is "Come September", 1961.

Rock Hudson stars in this frothy romantic comedy as filthy-rich American Robert Talbot. Talbot owns an Italian villa, where he traditionally stays only one month out of the year (September), but when Talbot suddenly decides to show up in July, Talbot's major overseer Maurice (Walter Slezak) is shocked out of his skin to see him -- it seems that Maurice has turned Talbot's villa into a hotel for the remaining eleven months of the year. But it's July in Italy, and love is in the air, and Talbot becomes distracted by the beautiful Lisa (Gina Lollobrigida) and soon he is trying to prevent her from marrying another man.
