I had their kraut and noodles at the Labor Day Oktoberfest and enjoyed them, so let's give Seven Roses in Beachwood a try. Sounds like they might not have lots of choices for vegetarians, but the matzo ball soup, potato pancakes and sauerkraut are all (hopefully) vegetarian. I look forward to seeing all of you there!
Review from Plain Dealer:
Seven Roses is hidden away on the mall level (read: basement) of a building in an office park on Chagrin Boulevard. Dark blue drapery, valances and carpeting lend a dated feel to the spacious room, but surrounding windows covered with lacy, white embroidered sheers let in enough light to render the space cheerful.
As for the food, call it serviceable. A cup of matzo ball soup ($1.99) wasn't quite Grandma's broth, but a decently fluffy dumpling and a dash of dill made it worth the price. Curious appetites should be satisfied by the big Market Sampler ($11.99). It included potato pancakes, kielbasi and sauerkraut, cabbage and noodles and their "famous" mini-meatloaf. On the surface, the pancakes were delicious, crisped to perfection -- though somewhere between "creamy" and "undercooked" within. The cabbage-noodles marriage was tasty, if dominated by bacon, but the mini-meatloaf was subtly seasoned and wonderfully tender.
As a lover of sauerkraut, I was won over by Seven Roses' mellow version, topped with a prettily presented sausage link.
If it's available, by all means order the torte. The large wedge of delicious torte ($4.29) consisted of moist layers of nut cake interspersed with fine chocolate ganache and piquant raspberry cream. It made the meal.
